In 2019, the Fridays for Future movement has brought the dramatic state of our current ecological situation to the attention of all those who are not completely inaccessible. More and more people realize: a complete change is needed.
Thereby, it is also the forces of our current economic principles that have caused the crisis and that are also holding back or even blocking change.
And shouldn’t it be self-evident: An economy that is not social and ecological is mismanagement!
What are the ideas of responsible economics? What can sustainably operating enterprises contribute to change? What political initiatives are there that envisage new future approaches for the economy?
Let’s start raising our voices for an Economy for Future!
“There is no alternative! That is the old mindset, no alternative to a free market that regulates everything. It is now confronted with a new, real ‘There is no alternative’: The need to save our foundations of life on planet Earth. That sets everything in motion. This is the great opportunity we now have. The chance for a social renewal, for an ecologically and socially sustainable economy.”
Gerhard Schuster, on 31 January 2020 at the kick-off for the formation of an alliance for an “Economy for Future” at Impact Hub Vienna
Let’s Economy for Future:
- January 31, 2020 – Kick-off meeting
- May/June 2020 – Talks with Fridays for Future Vienna
- August 2021 – First Let’s Economy Conference in Achberg
Considering the diversity of approaches shown in the work so far, it became clear how the unifying element can lie in a common task despite the differences. In the task of an overall change that has been recognized! It is at the same time the first common task of all people. It is about saving the foundations of our life on the planet earth – regionally and generationally fair!
There is no alternative to an economy for future!
We will continue to work on this in the sense of a permanent conference.
